New Motor Mount

Back to "Our Boat"

Why buy an expensive motor mount when you can build your own?  I bought some 3/4" and 1/4" poplar wood from Lowes. I used Gorilla Glue (a very excellent product since the glue is waterproof) to sandwich the 1/4" (notice the dark strip in the photo) between two layers of 3/4". Gently clamp and let sit overnight. Shape with handsaw or electric saw, sand and drill for mounting. Now put 4-6 coats of spar (marine) varnish and mount.  Looks great and costs a whopping $10.

New Transom Trim

Notice my old crappy transom trim. I ordered a new piece from Catalina Direct and my transom looks like it just rolled out of the factory!
